PRIZEGIVING EVENING I was pleased to see that the evening was well attended with around 400 parents, pupils, staff and friends of the school at Westlands. We were all very proud of the students' achievements and I am sure as parents you were also equally proud. We were grateful for Mr Rupert Fowke, the Headmaster of Thornlow Preparatory School in Weymouth, who was our guest speaker. A copy of the press release sent to the local papers, together with some photographs from the evening can be found on the website on the News page www.parkschool.com. As an advance notice, please reserve Tuesday 14th October 2008 in your diary for Speech Day next year, when our guest speaker will be the Rt. Rev. Peter Price, the Bishop of Bath & Wells. P Bate, Headteacher
HALF TERM GRADES Half term grades are issued to Senior pupils and students this week. We hope the information is useful to you and will provide a fair reflection of your child's performance thus far in the term. If you would like to query any of the grades, please contact your daughter's/son's tutor in the first instance.
SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENING This event is being held on Wednesday 7th November, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Whilst the evening is primarily aimed at helping Year 11 students and their parents to make decisions about the future, those from Year 10 are also most welcome to attend.
POPPIES There will be poppies for sale in the school office, from the 5th November, on behalf of the Royal British Legion.
SPORTS REPORT Please see Sports section on website.

NEW DRAMA STUDIO There will be a presentation evening for the new Drama Studio on Monday 19th November at 6.30 p.m. in the main school hall. You will have an opportunity to see the plans for the new building and raise any questions, on the evening. The Headmaster, Governors, and some members of staff will be in attendance and we would encourage as many parents as are able, to join us. There will be refreshments available.
UNIFORM When we return to school after half term we shall be in the month of November, so here is a timely reminder of uniform matters as the inclement weather will be with us. All pupils are required to bring with them to school a coat affording protection from wet weather – either a regulation green kagoule, wax jacket or the newer black fleeced lined coat. A blazer alone is insufficient for outer wear in winter months. Please ensure all garments are clearly named. School shoes must be low heeled, stiletto heels are unacceptable. Tights should be opaque black denier and not black nylon type. Many thanks for your co-operation in these matters.
PTA QUIZ NIGHT The much awaited date for the rescheduled Quiz night is to be Saturday 2nd February 2008. Please put this in your diary. More details to follow.
