STUART McINESS

Sue, Neil & James would like to thank everyone for the cards, messages and ongoing support we have received since the tragic loss of Stuart.  His memorial fund has received donations amounting to £4,800 to date and this will be used to benefit the activities Stuart enjoyed such as Scouts, cricket and the Park School, which played such an important part in his life.

STAFF LEAVING

At the end of the summer term we will be saying goodbye to Miss Amy Millican and Mrs Caroline Maggs, Mrs Caroline McGlaughlin, Mrs Caroline Fawcett and Miss Daria Sass.  We are very sorry to see them leave but we wish them all the very best in their futures.  We will be particularly thinking of Miss Millican on the 11th August on the occasion of her marriage to Neil.

STAFF GETTING MARRIED

Miss Williams is getting married on the  22nd July to Mr Kieran Clough, we wish them all the best for their happy day.

RNAS YEOVILTON

Year 8 students visited the meteorological office at R.N.A.S. Yeovilton on Friday 29th June.  This complimented the work that we had covered last term.  We were met by our hosts, who then showed us around the air traffic control room.  We had an interesting and enjoyable afternoon and thank Cmdr. Lang for arranging the visit, Mrs Shillito for all her hard work and Mr Smith for helping

The shop will be open on Tuesday afternoons from 3.00 – 4.30 after August 13th.  Mrs Maynard will also book appointments after this date.  She can be telephoned on 475092 after 6.00 p.m.

YEAR 8 EDEN PROJECT

First of all thank you to the teachers, Mrs Shillito, Mr Stevens and Miss Millican who all kindly gave up their time for us.  The trip was overall a very eye-opening and interesting experience, helping the students to learn the values of the rainforests and how deforestation affects the whole population.  The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, and the fact that James Morrison was playing live, made a brilliant day out, even more amazing.

PTA

The PTA would like to thank all Staff, Parents and friends for their support over this last school year. We have enjoyed some marvellous events and raised enough money to purchase for the school a telescope, digi box and DVD player, mobile cooker, a contribution to a printer for the boarding house, outside storage containers, projector, squash equipment, new trestle tables, library books, mural paints, Christian books and £300 towards the license required to run the software for the Key Stage 3 maths course.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 11th September 2007 at 4 p.m. in the Junior Staff room, all are welcome.

ARSENAL SOCCER SCHOOL

We have arranged for Trevor Jenkins, South West Co-ordinator for Simply Soccer, to talk to the Juniors during assembly on 5th September.  'Simply Soccer' is associated with the Arsenal Football Club, and aims to provide out of school coaching from F.A. Qualified coaches.  If there was sufficient interest, a junior club could be run from 4.00 to 5.30 p.m. on a weekday and cost £45 for a 12 session term.  The club would be open to years 1-6 and children would train in paired year groups (re. Years 1 & 2, 3 & 4 and 5 & 6).  This is potentially an exciting opportunity for us to be linked to Arsenal Football Club (though Mr Bate would have preferred it to be Manchester United!!)
