CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

A most successful and exciting Park School Chess Championship has reached a thrilling conclusion.  All competitors are to be congratulated on a fine, competitive and sporting tournament.  After all scheduled matches had been completed, Simon Chesterman and Harry Inch were tied on points.  In a play-off, Simon avenged his earlier defeat to Harry to retain the title he won last year. Both players, along with Max Puncher, Adam Coppard, Bryn Cameron and Thomas Sankey have qualified for the Regional Mega Final of the British Land UK Chess Challenge, to be held in May at Millfield School, in which we wish them every success.

NOTICE

Parents are reminded to give a term's notice for their children if they are leaving the school at the end of the summer term, this includes those pupils in Year 11 who are not staying on for the Sixth Form.

VACANCY – UNIFORM SHOP MANAGER

As mentioned in the newsletter last term, our Uniform Shop Manager, Mrs Maynard, has decided to retire at the end of this term.  This interesting role within the school may appeal to a parent, so for the time being at least, this post will not be advertised externally.  Copies of the job description and application forms are available from the Headmaster's secretary, Mrs Morris.  The closing date for applications is Friday 9^th May, with the start date being four weeks before the end of term.

AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES

I am running after school 'catch up' art classes for Years 11,12 & 13 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 4 – 5 p.m. in the Art Room, running up to final exams (the last date will be Tuesday 6^th May).

FASHION SHOW – WEDS 30^TH APRIL

7-9 P.M. MAIN HALL

We will be holding a 'recycled' fashion show displaying Year 8 paper fashion, Year 9 recycled fashion, GCSE Year 11 and A Level Year 13 garments. Clothing will be showcased on a catwalk with professional lighting and music.  Money raised by the event will be presented to Rebecca Young an ex pupil at The Park School, who is currently working with street children in

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.  There will be light refreshments available and two stalls will be selling second hand clothes and jewellery and shoes.  If you have any unwanted items, please bring them to Mrs Briggs or Mrs Scannel by Monday April 28^th.  Tickets will be available from the school office or on the door on the night  - £6 Adults, £3 Children (unless helping).
