PUBLICATION  OF EXAM  RESULTS

You may have noticed our excellent performance in the 2007 examination results.  In the county of Somerset we came second with our overall A Level results score of 879.4.  Please see the attached list.  In the GCSE section, like many other independent schools, we were disappointed, that the Government refused to include the IGCSE results (the international GCSE qualification).  These were taken in English by a number of our Overseas students, and whilst the majority of them all passed the exam at Grade C or above, they were discounted from being included in the table.  Some of the most famous schools in the world are also in the same category, with Eton, Harrow, Winchester, St. Pauls, to name a few, also ranking low in the GCSE tables for their counties.  Jonathan Shepherd the Chief Executive of the Independent Schools Council, said "these flawed and misleading tables are a travesty of fair reporting.  Children who take the demanding IGCSE examinations are given no credit at all.  It is time for common sense to prevail and for these silly tables to be scrapped".  Some schools, including Eton had a nil score in the League Table, with all their students taking IGCSE in English or Maths.  Our actual score for GCSE was 78% if the IGCSE results had been included.

CAROL SERVICE OFFERING

The total collection was £283.88p. which was donated to CORD (to help people displaced by conflict).
