THE WEATHER! We were sorry that we had to close Wednesday and Thursday of this week due to the extreme weather conditions. The main problem is ensuring that there are enough paths free of snow and ice in school for children to move around safely.
The side roads around the school have also been treacherous, as has the bridge between our two sites.
I am pleased to say that we managed to open on Friday and that we had an almost full compliment of staff in the school and that the majority of the children also managed to make it in.
We are taking it a day at a time, so please do look at the website, if you can, early on Monday morning the 11th January in order to see that we are remaining open. Looking at the forecast for the weekend it is a strong possibility that we will be able to continue.
We are having to extend our mock exams by two days at the end of next week. We will, of course, inform the students of the necessary changes that we have to make.
Public examinations of A-Levels and GCSE's commence on Monday, 11th January. We are hoping that as we will be open the examinations will, therefore, take place. If for any reason they cannot take place the Examination Boards have said that the entries must be transferred to June entries. If this is not possibly due to the examinations being terminal exams then they will awarded grades on the basis of the estimated grades given by the teachers. We hope that we do not have to resort to this situation and that the school will be functioning as normal as possible with the examinations taking place.
If for any reason you are not sure then please do get in touch with us at the school.
