Swimming Gala 2009

The scene was set with glorious blue skies matching the blue waters of Street Open Air Pool - an idyllic summer's day - for our annual swimming gala.  Ashley, Livingstone and Slessor Houses were keen to topple last year's winners - Shaftesbury.  Livingstone's Sports Captain, Aaron Newbury, said he smelt the scent of victory was in the air, but then discovered some of team had forgotten their swimming costumes!  Neverthless, all four House Captains marshalled their troops well, and by the start they had full entries in every race, and battle was about to commence.

Ashley took the early lead, but after six races there was barely a point between the Houses.  At the half way point Ashley were winning, Shaftesbury were two points behind, Slessor House was third and Livingstone fourth, eleven points behind the field! They continued to compete bravely, but not surprisingly took the wooden spoon at the end of the proceedings! 

Ashley and Livingstone were neck and neck right up to the last few relays, but in the end the Champions retained their title!  Congratulations Shaftesbury.  The winning team is pictured below with Mrs Hopkinson, the Head of House.
