David Laws MP visits The Park
25th January 2008David Laws MP spent the afternoon at The Park with a group of Sixth Formers and Year 11s. Mr Laws' visit was particularly appreciated because he is not only our (Yeovil) Member of Parliament but also the Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for schools (and also children and families). Mr Laws faced some tough questions on conflicts between local, national and Party interests, the influence of Party whips, the changing role of the MP in the electronic age, MPs' pay, private education and league tables. In his answers he demonstrated some of the skills which have made him one of the leading lights of his Party. We very much appreciate his finding the time in a busy schedule to spend the afternoon with us.
