Chesterman is top Chessman!

2nd May 2008

In the annual Park School Senior Chess Championship an exciting play-off between Simon Chesterman and Harry Inch (both in Year 11), saw Simon prevailing to take the title for the second year in succession.  Harry was a sporting gentleman, congratulating Simon on his victory, when earlier in the competition Harry had beaten Simon!  However Harry also lost one match during the competition when he played against Adam Coppard (Year 9), and therefore was faced with Simon in the play-off.

The school tournament is part of the British Land U.K. Chess Challenge for Schools, and both Simon and Harry will go forward to the regional finals later this month (to be held at Millfield School).  The Park also has four other pupils going forward to the regional finals, namely, Thomas Sankey, Max Puncher, Adam Coppard (Year 9), and Bryn Cameron (Year 10), who all qualified by gaining a sufficient number of points during the tournament.
