Bugsy Malone

11th July 2008

The school hall was transformed into the seamier quarters of downtown New York for our annual major drama production.  Eighty children from Year 3 up to Year 13 took part in this toe-tapping celebration of the roaring 1920s.   Ryan Williams, Laurence Zanelli, Abigail Chesterman, Jade Pitman and Georgia Beattie led the cast of gangsters, singers, dancers and molls.

Audience members nearest the stage enjoyed being seated right inside Fat Sam's Speakeasy.   No recorded music was used - the band's electric live performance carried the production along with a swing.

Thanks to the brilliant costumes, spectacular make-up, stunning hairstyles, colourful setting and intricate choreography the production was a feast for the eye, while the spirited choruses and solo pieces ensured that the audience left the hall with a song in their hearts.
