Blood Brothers Production

9th July 2009

If you did not get to watch one of this week's performances of 'Blood Brothers' then you certainly missed a real spectacle!

The audiences were treated to vibrant, colourful, professional performances which involved almost 70 pupils and students in their execution.
Blood Brothers as youngsters: Hugh Scannell as
                                                          Mickey and
Robbie Patterson as Eddie.

Scenery, costumes, props, music alike, all were carefully in keeping with this 1960's style drama.  It is always an encouragement to staff who spend most of their days teaching the academic disciplines to see pupils using their considerable artistic talents in the traditional end of year production and this year was no exception.

Getting older: Oscar Stooke plays Mickey and Laurence Zanelli plays Eddie.
With Lucy Warr playing (middle) Linda.

The story centres around twin brothers, Eddie and Mickey, who were separated shortly after birth and brought up in the same town: one as an only child of a wealthy family, the other as the youngest of several children in the family.  The story follows the trials and tribulations of growing up and examines the issue of class differences, mixed with ingredients of deceit and also touches of humour.

It would be innocuous to single out any of the superb cast for special mention here, but we would like to acknowledge the devoted endeavours of our two young directors, Jade Pitman and Laurence Zanelli.

Lead roles of Mrs Lyons (mother to Eddie) played by Tamsin Eddey, threatens Mrs Johnson (mother of Mickey) played by Harriet Stanley.

None of this would have been possible without the vision and dedication of Mrs Scannell, our Head of Drama, aided throughout by Mrs Briggs, Head of Art, who designed all the back-drops.  Special thanks also go to Rory Mangles, Mr Pat Cummins and Mrs Gomez.
