Art Competition 2008

7th July 2008

'All things bright and beautiful' was the theme for this year's House Art Competition.  The entries were extremely colourful and varied.  They included drawings, paintings, mixed media, sculpture, costume, textiles and mosaic.  We were privileged to have as our judge Mr Laurence Belbin, a well known local artist.  He presented the prizes to the winners in a school assembly giving his reasons for their selection.

Mrs Briggs (Head of Art) discusses some of the entries with Mr Laurence Belbin

The winning entries can be seen below.  Mr Belbin also talked about his work as a professional artist, and showed the pupils some of his own paintings (two of which are shown below the pupils' entries on this page).  Congratulations to Livingstone who won the competition.  Shaftesbury were second, Ashley third with Slessor last!  We are most grateful to Mrs Briggs for organising the competition.
