Annual Prizegiving Ceremony 2007

18th October 2007

The Park School's Annual Prize Giving Ceremony

The Park School's guest of honour at the Annual Prize Giving Ceremony, held at Westlands Sports and Social Club was Mr Rupert Fowke, Head of Thornlow Preparatory School, Weymouth.

In his message, Mr Fowke talked about the importance of love in the family home as well as in the daily environment of school, illustrating how love was interpreted in the different areas of a pupil's life. For potential to be fully realised pupils need these underpinning values.   He stressed that achievement did not happen purely as a result of ability, but through imaginative teaching that was able to 'fire' a pupil towards his/her aspirations in life. Pupils were pleased to be included in helping Mr. Fowke illustrate his point by displaying posters.

The audience enjoyed orchestral and choral performances from the various music ensembles in the school.  A popular musical item was from the school's Jazz Group who played 'The Girl from Ipanema' composed by Antonio Jobim, but we heard from several groups ranging from the junior choir and their enthusiastic drummer to the Senior Baroque ensemble and a duet from two delightful Senior students.
