Modern Foreign Languages Department
AS and A2
In the Sixth Form, each of the two levels consists of a speaking paper, representing 30% of the overall mark, and a combined listening, reading and writing paper, weighted at 70%.
Pupils have more autonomy than at GCSE and are encouraged to pursue their own research of the target language’s culture to supplement material covered in class. Topics encountered at AS include Aspects of daily life, Leisure and entertainment, Communication and media, Education and training.
At A2 the topics encountered are Society, Environment, Science and technology and Culture. All assessments are held at the end of the appropriate year.
