Youthspeaks Competition Winners

On Monday, five teams, comprising a speaker, a proposer of the vote of thanks and a chairman, waited nervously to participate in the Rotary Club Youthspeaks competition. Speeches had been written on a variety of subjects and practised until they were word perfect. A packed house heard Grace Busby, Lucy Sainsbury and Rebecca Cartwright talk about Bread and Zoe Braddick, Luke Humpheys and Peter Francis (seen below accepting their certificates) discuss the dubious pleasure we Brits take in eating Marmite!

The winners were Kammi Singh, Phoebe Jo Gardener and Lucy Eton Ball (below) who ruminated on the humble necktie and what secrets it can tell us about a person wearing it.

They now go through to the next round: the area semi final in Puddletown on 29th February.
Special mention must go to our very Junior team (below): Hannah Humphreys, Molly Parsons, and Hannah Horrocks. They spoke about sweat and, according to the judging panel 'showed astonishing degree of proficiency and talent....stars for the future' Well done to them and to all the other participants who represented the school so graciously.
