Early Years Pumpkins
From just six carefully sown seeds, the early years gardeners have grown twenty-seven fabulous pumpkins!
Following this years bumper harvest, the children were able to enjoy the taste of home-made pumpkin soup.
Under the watchful eyes of Mrs Ennals and Mrs Johnson, the children all had a go at cutting one of the pumpkins up. Then they added onion, red peppers and vegetable stock, to make a delicious pumpkin soup, which was blended to make it smooth.
As before, the remaining 26 pumpkins were proudly displayed in the early years classrooms, and parents were invited to place a bid for the pumpkin of their choice by way of a silent auction organised by the PTA.
This event proved to be very popular and all the pumpkins went to good homes, raising the sum of £149.50.
This money will be used by the Early Years department to provide more gardening equipment for the children and also some tables for their garden area.
Well done to all the young gardeners and a big 'thank you' to all the parents who supported the auction!
