Key Stage 3 Examinations

Friday, 9th May 2008

Dear Parents,

Re: Key stage 3 Examinations for Year 9 pupils

These examinations begin on Tuesday May 6th and will be held in the school hall.  The timetable for the week is printed below.  While we would ask you to encourage your child to prepare thoroughly for these assessments, time has been built in for some revision, and pupils should come to school with the necessary books, revision guides etc so that best use is made of these time slots.

Should you have any queries about these KS3 assessments, please contact Mr Evans (Examination Secretary) or myself at your earliest convenience.

Yours sincerely,

D.Ennals.

(Deputy Head).

u9 Cricket

Friday, 9th May 2008

u9 Cricket 'v' Sunninghill - away - Return approximately 4.30pm.

TEAM:

James Bridge, Jonathan Burrows, Calum Harvey, John Hodder(c), Declan Kinsella, James Bayley, George Chapman, Charlie Houghton, Calum Nott, Johnathan Haynes.

What a fabulous display from our boys in an extremely exciting game.  The two sides were evenly matched and the spectators were treated to good bating, accurate bowling and some super fielding.  We won the toss and elected to field first, George Chapman, John Hodder and Johnathan Hayes all took wickets; whilst Charlie Houghton as wicket Keeper showed quick thinking taking two while the batter was out of crease.  However, our start fielder was Declan Kinsella with 4 wickets in the last over.

After tea it was our turn to bat and while we scored steadily we were also losing wickets.  As the last over of the match arrived we were 9 runs behind; Charlie Houghton hit the first ball for a quick single leaving John Hodder to face the bowler.  The very next ball went for 3 and our watching players could hardly contain themselves 4 more needed.  Next ball for another 2 and everyone was jumping up and down in anticipation.  As the noise abated John steadied himself and yes!, the very next strike sent the ball for another 2 and we just won the game by a single run 189 against 188.

What a fabulous display of team work from these youngsters, supporting each other throughout and clapping and cheering good performances from their opponents.  Player of the match Declan Kinsella and John Hodder.
