Primary Schools Cross Country County Championships away King's College Taunton

TEAM:

James Bridge, John Hodder, Declan Kinsella, Callum Harvey, Emma Denham.

These youngsters enjoyed glorious sunshine for this championships; however it was probaly a little too warm for this completely flat and exceptionally fast course.  Needless to say the race set off at a furious pace and by the first corner two boys had moved into contention at the front with a clear lead over the other athletes.  Our own James Bridge was one of these two and he remained locked with the other lad throughout.  Neither gave any quarter and as they entered the home straight they were still head to head; Jmaes took the lead, but with 10 metres to go the other lad came back and James had to settle for 2nd place.  This is of course an awesome result in a county championships at only 10 years of age.

James was assisted by strong running form our other atheltes with Declan 42nd, Emma 26th (11th girl), John 50th and Callum 57th.  This gained them a fabulous 5th team place out of the16 schools represented.  Which is all the more impressive when you consider that apart from James, the boys had all played 35 minutes each way in a cup football match immeadiately prior to the race.  Well done all of you.
